Happy New Year!

Welcome to our first edition of the Greater Omaha Chapter of NACE Newsletter.  Here you will find all sorts of fun information including what is new in the Omaha catering arena, "who is in the news", local job postings and other exciting current information.

2010 is promising to be an amazing year for the Omaha Chapter.  Our "Forks in Paradise" A Catering Challenge will be held on Thursday, April 29th at the new Metropolitan Institute for the Culinary Arts. Please attend and support the hospitality community by attending and watching some of Omaha's top chefs compete in an "Iron Chef" style competition.  This fundraiser will be our third annual event.  The first annual "The Golden Fork" A Catering Competition won the 2008 Fundraiser of the Year for the entire NACE membership.  We competed against 30 chapters for this title.

Please join us at one of our many meetings this year. We have some interesting educational programs slated for 2010. They include topics such as:  Jewish Wedding Traditions, Green Meetings, a Vodka/Dinner Pairing, and "How to host an upscale tailgate party". Please join us for one of these programs and find out why The Greater Omaha Chapter of NACE won the "2008 Chapter of the Year" award.  We look forward to seeing you soon!

Welcome New Members

Welcome New Member!

We welcome Chef Nathan Newhouse, Melissa Tibben and Attutude on Food!

Chef Newhouse possesses a varied and extensive background in the culinary arts. His unique perspective exhibits a flair for creating the most visually pleasing presentations ever seen. His diverse background represents the accumulation of years of commitment to offering his clients a dining experience that is never ordinary and delivers what everyone expects from a truly excellent meal; flavors that enliven the senses and become a defining moment that all other dining experiences will be compared to.

Graduating in 1991 from Culinary Arts School in Australia, Nathan quickly began to make his mark in the culinary arena by working at various Renowned Establishments in Australia. His success was a credit to his drive to be at the forefront of his craft.

After relocating to the USA with his wife, who is from Nebraska, he continued developing his skills at the acclaimed "Flat Iron Café" in Omaha.

In his quest to further gain knowledge of his craft, Nathan then joined the Sheraton Hotel as the Executive Chef, where his success and creativity were touted by both client and peer as "...at the cutting edge of the culinary world". Returning to his greatest desire of being an entrepreneur with unlimited creative license, he created his catering company,

"Attitude on Food"

Chef Nathan and his professional staff look forward to serving you and your guests on your next catered event!

We are excited to have Attitude on Food in our NACE community!

Forks in Paradise

The Greater Omaha Chapter of NACE

Institute for the Culinary Arts at Metro Community College

Present

Forks in Paradise-A Catering Challenge

April 29th, 2010

If you did not participate in sponsorship of the Greater Omaha Chapter of NACE annual fundraiser, the past two years, you missed an incredible opportunity.  The 2009 "The Golden Fork-A Catering Challenge" received national exposure and attention when it won "Chapter Fundraiser of 2009 from the National Association of Catering Executives."

Forks in Paradise, our third annual Catering and Tablescape Challenge gala, will once again be a unique event incorporating both food and design. We are pleased to be in our new permanent home for the Fork Gala, at Metro Community College's Institute for the Culinary Arts' new state of the art building.

This fundraising event will feature two competitions incorporating both food and design.  The first will showcase the culinary talents of local member chefs in a culinary challenge preparing unique and creative three course meal. The second challenge is a tablescape competition highlighting the décor aspect of event execution.

Here is why you should sponsor such a great event:

  • You will receive exposure to over 300 Event Planners and other industry professionals in the Omaha, Lincoln and Council Bluffs metro areas.
  • You will be supporting scholarships for students at the Institute for the Culinary Arts at the Metropolitan Community College & the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
  • You will be enriching the professional development of hospitality business leaders in the community.
  • You will be an important part of a program that has been recognized nationally and will continue to put the Omaha Metro Area on the map as a place to hold events.

We have provided several levels of participation on the following page.  Please review and reserve a space for your support.   Each level carries company logo recognition on communications as well as additional benefits.  Additionally, donations at Silver level and above include an invitation for dinner at the ICA Sage Student Bistro, as well as ad space on the Greater Omaha Chapter of NACE's website.

Thank you in advance for your support and attendance at our event!

Sincerely,
